Rêveur
Alphonse Mucha
1897. Color lithograph poster. 72.7 × 55.2 cm. Mucha Museum, Prague, Czech Republic. One of the most celebrated Art Nouveau decorative panels created by Czech master Alphonse Mucha. Originally commissioned by Paris printer and publisher F. Champenois as an uncaptioned decorative panel, its overwhelming popularity prompted Champenois to publish it with text as his company's official calendar for 1898. The design features a pensive woman in an embroidered gown leafing through a sketchbook, framed by a halo of stylized flora and intricate lace-like arabesques—a hallmark of "Le Style Mucha."
